Between September and October we ran five preliminary rounds of our Schools’ Mace Competition, in Dingwall, Aberdeenshire, Edinburgh, Ayr and Thurso. These regional rounds allowed schools from a much wider geographic pool to enter this event, and has led to our most diverse Finals Day in recent years. Congratulations to all schools that took part, and thank you to the volunteers who make this event possible!

The motions for the Finals Day are:
Quarter-Final: This house believes that central banks should be independent from governments.
Semi-Final & Junior Final: Reboot culture refers to the growing trend in film, television, and other media where studios revive, remake, or restart existing franchises instead of creating original stories.This house regrets the rise of reboot culture.
Grand Final: In adversarial legal systems, like the UK, opposing parties present their cases before a neutral judge or jury. Both sides gather evidence, examine witnesses and make arguments with the judge acting as an impartial referee. In inquisitorial legal systems, like France, judges take an active investigatory role, question witnesses themselves, and work to establish their own facts.
