St Andrew’s Debate
On Saturday, 29th November we ran another successful edition of our annual St Andrew’s Debate. This is always one of the highlights of the debating calendar, a unique opportunity for pupils to both debate and judge, and a chance for newer schools to gain some experience in a welcoming space.
Thank you to the volunteers who helped out with judging, and Stewart’s Melville College for kindly hosting the event.
The motions were:
- Round 1: This house would build social housing in wealthy areas.
- Round 2: This house supports the use of sortition to determine members of the Scottish Parliament.
- Round 3: This house believes that aid funding for developing countries should take the form of direct cash transfers to citizens, rather than the providing of goods or funding of projects.
- Final: This house supports nationalism.
