Are you teacher or a pupil at a school that’s starting debating for the first time? Maybe your school already has a debating club but you want to take it to the next level. Or perhaps you know nothing about debating and want to find out where to begin?
If you answered yes to any of these questions then you’re in the right place! We’re thrilled to announce that we will be continuing our Speak up Scotland workshops in the 2022/2023 school year.
These workshops are specifically catered to schools with little to no debating experience. Our aim is to show you the ropes in a fun and accessible environment, covering the basics of debating and the ways you can take part in the competitions happening all around Scotland. We’ll show you how to come up with arguments, the best way to rebut your opponent’s claims, and how to get a judge caring about what you have to say. We cater for all skill levels: our workshops have material for those wanting to debating casually, those who want to use it to supplement their school curriculum and those who want to make it all the way to the Scottish National Team.
