Workshops form the foundation of our Speak up Scotland work. We offer a series of debating workshops for schools in Scotland. We are proud to have delivered these training sessions in schools around Scotland, from the Highlands to the Borders, and to be able to offer workshops to state schools free of charge. The aim of the programme is to coach young people from across Scotland to speak up clearly and with confidence through the medium of debate and public speaking. We are delighted to work with S1 – S6 pupils at any level, and especially welcome schools who have not yet started a debate club.
At workshops, participants are introduced to the basics of debating and take part in a variety of fun, stimulating exercises and activities. The aim of these sessions is both to get young people debating competitively and to boost crucial skills such as critical thinking, teamwork, research ability, public speaking and confidence.
